Episode 101. Distracted: The Disruption of ADHD

In this episode I explore ADHD, the condition that disrupts lives, perturbs relationships, and hinders personal and professional attainments.

I review the manifestations of ADHD in children and adults, and its presentation in men and women. I also discuss its frequent co-morbidities that muddy the diagnostic process.

To illustrate the lived experience of ADHD, I deploy such insightful memoirs as ‘The Boy from Hell’ by Alison Thompson, ‘Chasing Kites’ by Tom Nardone, ‘Desperately Seeking Novelty’ by Sandra Arnau-Dewar and ‘I’ll Just Be Five More Minutes’ by Emily Farris.

For the academic dimensions of ADHD, I cited the classic works ‘Driven to Distraction’ by of Edward Hallowell and John Ratey, and ‘ADHD: A Hunter in a Farmer’s World’ by Thom Hartmann.
