In this episode, I am joined by general practitioner Bernadette Hard, to explore her experience of CSF leak, and her work as Trustee of the CSF Leak Association.

Bernadette described how a workplace trauma resulted in PTSD, and how that was followed by spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak. She explored how CSF leak set in, and the long journey to a diagnosis and treatment.

Bernadette studied medicine in London, and her fascination with human behaviour drew her into addiction medicine where she worked for over 20 years, often with people facing extreme marginalisation and street homelessness.

Bernadette was instrumental in introducing long-acting depo buprenorphine to Wales in 2019, a programme that was rolled out during the COVID pandemic.
